We have been appointed by Open Banking Limited to provide integrated public affairs and corporate communications support, following a competitive pitch process.
The brief will see our Financial Services team provide government and political affairs support, alongside targeted corporate communications and media relations, at a critical time for the open banking sector.
Open Banking Limited is an implementation entity at the forefront of building and maintaining the open banking ecosystem in the UK.
The technology, standards and structures it oversees drives innovation and competition in banking services – helping more than 15 million UK customers and businesses move, manage and make more of their money, across a wide range of financial services; from keeping on top of bills, to making their savings work harder, or donating to charity.
We will be supporting them as they deliver their responsibilities under the CMA Order, and look to showcase the successes of open banking to date and highlight the potential of open banking, open finance and smart data in the future.
Led by WA Senior Director, Natasha Egan-Sjodin, working with Senior Partner Tom Frackowiak, the agency will work with OBL to educate political and media stakeholders on this highly technical area, ensuring the opportunities of open banking are fully understood by decision-makers and the wider public.
This win furthers WA’s growing payments and fintech portfolio, which includes global payments technology firm Block, leading pensions provider People’s Partnership, B Corp pensions advisory and actuary firm Hymans Robertson and more.
Commenting on the appointment, Natasha Egan-Sjodin, said:
“We are proud to be working with Open Banking Limited at such a pivotal moment for the sector as the UK transitions to the next phase of Open Banking and beyond. We look forward to supporting OBL to promote the success of the sector and what can be achieved in the future.”
Luke Ryder from Open Banking Limited said:
“We are pleased to partner with WA Communications as we work with our ecosystem to help deliver the next phase of open banking. WA Communications’ support will be important in enabling us to continue to deliver our obligations under the CMA Order and promote end-user uptake of Open Banking services.”
